Extreme Makeover: Dresser Edition

One of my goals this summer was to maintain a clean apartment, and make it pretty.

I've always had this idea of taking a nasty dresser, sanding it, painting it, and then modge podging scrapbook paper onto the top and insets.  I looked around online, and found out that I am not the first human to dream up this project.  So, I decided to go for it.

With the support of Mista T., I proceed to buy this little thing from the D.I.:

It ended up costing us $25.  Awesome, right?  Right.

Well, that was in May.  It is now August, and Mista T. and put the final touches on the dresser last night.

It now looks like this:
So, basically, that leaves us with this:

Tonight the T. and myself are on a hunt.  A hunt for a mirror to put above the dresser.  And a on a hunt for a tree branch.  Why the tree branch?

So we can make this:
of course.
Our room is getting dangerously close to looking how we want it to.

Which is fantastic news.

Ummmm this is the best dresser makeover ever! It looks fabulous! I bought a mirror for my dresser from Hobby Lobby. Nothing beats 50% off at that place :)

Thank you for the comment! I hope you're having a great week!!

Great job on the dresser redo. I also really like the tree branch idea. So are you going for an earthly kind of look. Good luck with the rest of your transformation.

That is great! We got a crappy coffee table from good will for $7! I had the idea [i didn't know it existed either] of mod podging pictures and scrapbook paper on the top of the table too! Clint said it wasn't practical and that it would hold up. I see his point, but instead i'm going to pout. We just painted it black. But it still looks awesome!

Wow what a difference! I admit I love when dressers get painted (all or partially) white. I love how it fits in with the rest of your bedroom, too. ;)

I have a lot of branches if you don't mind mesquite ones - which are extremely thorny, sharp and not to be treated gently - so I guess only if you have a curtain you really REALLY don't want anyone stealing.... never mind. ;-)
