5 Non-Traumatic Tragedies

Two weeks before we moved to New Jersey, I experienced what people refer to as a "freak out".  I've had freak outs in the past, but none have caused me to act so . . . emotional.  Yeah, we'll call it "emotional".  During this time, I became "that girl".  You know the one.  The girl who cries over the stupidest things, and makes everyone around her wish that Ursula, the wicked sea witch, stole her voice instead of Ariel's.  Here are some moments I noted as "crushing" in my journal during that two week period:

I have a pretty strict "no video gaming" rule, with three exceptions:  Mario Kart, Peggle, and Nintendogs.  Nintendogs and I go way back.  When I was sixteen, my eight year old cousin left his Nintendo D.S. at my house on accident.  Inside I found a magical game filled with cute, baby puppies.  I found out that you could train the puppies to do tricks for you and bring your presents.  I was in love.  Turns out, the eight year old wanted his game back, so I had to part ways with my new found obsession.  Fast forward six years, and my husband purchases me a copy of Nintendogs to occupy my time on our up-coming flight. That night, I stayed up until 2am training my precious "Cupcake" for her first dog show.  When I entered her into the show, she didn't place.  I cried some very real tears before I realized that I was being an absolute maniac.

I usually don't eat ice cream, because when I do I become obsessed with it.  The kind of obsessed where I only want to eat ice cream, and lose interest in other forms of nutrition.  Well, a week before moving I decided to have a one night stand with a pint of "Everything but the Kitchen Sink" and chaos ensued after I finished.  I think no man has ever mourned an empty ice cream container quite the way I did that night.

I might be the first person in the world who has legitimately shed tears over an episode of "The Office," but when Jim buys Pam his parent's house, I become a puddle of mush.  It's almost as bad as the first (and last) time I ever watched "Lilo and Stich."  "Ohana means family" will always be an embarrassingly emotional phrase to me.

I guess I just ran out of my 64oz Diet Dr. Pepper before we really got to know each other?

While cleaning out our fridge, I threw away roughly 20 tons of expired Mayonnaise, Miracle Whip, Ranch Dressing, and Tzatziki.  I just kept thinking about how selfish it was for me to not use my excess Miracle Whip when there are starving kids in Africa.

So, I guess the point of all of this is that I am a crazy person. And I don't handle change very well.

And I hope we can all still be friends.

Hahahaha.

Haha. You're the best! These really are some intense tragedies! I don't deal with change well either so I totally understand and we can definitely be friends. :)

Bahaha! Oh man. I have been crying over the silliest things lately, too! In fact, the emotional tearing up (mostly about happy things) has gotten significantly worse since I got married. Something about marriage made me more tenderhearted. Hahaha! Glad to have you back here blogging again :)

One of my favorite quotes is "Our dilemma is that we hate change and love it at the same time; what we really want is for things to remain the same but get better."

And a major factor about being in the military is you HAVE to get used to moving - when you don't want to - to places you don't want to go (my one exception - Hawaii) - and just when you learn to love it, you have to move again!

So crying over The Office and Ben & Jerry's (which is perfectly normal, by the way) is just a coping strategy.

And remember when things are completely insane - all of this is going to make some great stories to tell in six months!

I love that episode of The Office! I think the biggest tear jerker line for me is when Jim says "I knew I was waiting for my wife" during his wedding toast.
