The Hipster's Antonym.

Lately, I have been noticing that I am the opposite of a hipster.

A hipster is someone who likes something before it's cool, and I am someone who likes something after it is cool.  I guess you could say I start liking things when they stop being cool.

This is not intentional.  I would probalby like cool things before they were cool, or while they were still cool . . . I just never hear about them until it is too late.  Maybe it's because I don't watch television.  Or maybe it's because I am inherently obvlious.

I don't listen to newly emerging, indie music.
I still listen to Savage Garden.  I'm pretty sure they were cool in 1997.

I am not a vegetarian or vegan.
I tend to eat upwards of three donuts each week.

I don't own a Mac.
My laptop is old enough to be your mom.

I don't have a bike.
But I totally wish I did.

I haven't read the Hunger Games.
But I really want to.  And I saw the movie.

I don't wear vintage clothing.
Unless you count clothes I used to wear in middle school.

You get the point.

I additionally, I found myself "trying" to be cool by typing "what is cool right now?" into Google.

I'm pretty sure that's the least cool thing a person could do.

This is just an observation.  Feel free to move along with your day.

But, while you're moving along . . . maybe you'd like to go here and check out an interview I did for St. George Weddings.  And, if you get a minute, read this too.  I wrote an article for Alive! Utah on Street Style in Southern Utah.

Okay.  Bye.

hahah I like savage garden, but not as much as backstreet boys. Everything I wore until like 3rd grade was sewn by my mom. So uncool then. So cool now. Wait, that's hipster isn't it? But it was forced? so probably uncool. I also totally want a bike. Crazy bad. Crazy crazy bad!!!!

p.s. I think you're cool!

Hipsters own iPhones & Instagram.
I keep my old cell phone until my husband takes pity on my lack of 'coolness' and upgrades them for me.

Hipsters get funky chunky fake glasses.
I refuse to wear glasses because I wore them all my life - because my eye are legit messed up.

Hipsters like raiding their grandma's closet.
Old lady clothes make me feel... like an old lady.

I'm with you!

First, I also still listen to Savage Garden. I knew I liked you! ;) I also love my donuts! As a matter of fact I called my lovely husband yesterday informing him I was in need of a donut. I also have not read the Hunger Games yet...Do you see where I am going with this? We were meant to be friends!! Congratulations on all the new adventures in your life! I would say them each individually but there are so many because you are so amazing! Much love! <3

This is awesome. Savage Garden still. So not hipster either, I wish I could rock my crazy splatter paint leggings from middle school but that would be a crime on anyone who had to see me in them now or then.

So I went through and read every word on the hipster evolution chart. I loved it all. I even showed husband and we had a good laugh over it. You always make me laugh :)
