So. I just barely performed at an open mic night here in town. It was one of my summer goals.
I did alright.
Open mic night in Cedar City is a little bit weird. Like, the kind of weird when burning sandlewood is passed around the room so you can inhale in an effort to "experience the music more completely."
Or the kind of weird when you're asked to come up on stage and do impromptu percussion for a saxophone player.
Or the kind of weird when a guitarist brings up tiny Book of Mormon action figures and makes up an alien song on the spot, which he insists is "inspired" by them.
You probably get my drift.
In other news, I've taken it upon myself to become the town's paparazzi.
Here is a tiny sample of my findings, thus far:
Unsuspecting.
And, you're probably next.

Congrats on doing the open mic! It's nerve wracking, but awesome.
I love these pictures. I keep thinking about them in a "Stars, they're just like us!" type feature in a magazine and it makes me laugh.
Photo-journalism at its very best - the National Enquirer I'm certain will be contacting you soon.
(Wait a minute, is that still around? I haven't looked at any store register racks lately)
PAHAHA, chyesssss...we needed a paparazzi!
and that open mic night sounds out of control, but still sounds like a good time to me :)
I'm so proud of you for performing in public! What a great goal! I wish I could have been there. The photos are nice...I especially like how that man's shoes are lighting up!
Chelsea, you have such a talent at singing. You should keep this up. And your "Sights of Cedar" pictures are a nice glimpse of your beautiful city on a hill. Glad you were able to perform and share part of who you are.
This is so so so so funny!!! I seriously can't stop laughing out loud! I LOVE that you are just roaming around town taking photos of strangers (I'm also oddly inspired!). HAHA! No to mention your description of open mic night... those are weird around here in Minnesota too, but not quite that extreme lol. Major major kudos to you though on getting up there and performing. Any chance we might spot a video one of these days, hmmm??? :)
Chelsea!! Congrats on your open mic! That is so awesome! If I lived in Cedar I totally would've come to watch! (and hopefully I wouldn't have fit in with those descriptions of the weirdos.....haha!)
this is too funny.

Oh yous a good papparazzi, Chels! Hahah I take really random photos too so I so feel this! xD
I also think it's a great accomplishment, doing the open mic night. I wish I could of heard you. I'm sure you were more than alright! : )
That is fantastic Chelsea. Keep chasing your dreams! I wish I could sing. It would such a fun talent to have.
