So, Very Thankful.

Sometimes I feel like a Sunbeam during church.  I wiggle, and I get snack-ish, and all I really want to do half of the time is color or doodle.  Today was one such Sunbeam occasion.  The speakers finished their talks, the closing hymn was sung, and it was time for the much anticipated benediction.  I was so ready to get up for a second between meetings and stretch my legs and maybe get a drink of water.  Well, the sweet lady giving the closing prayer had other things planned.  This little dear proceeded to give the l o n g e s t prayer I have ever heard in my life.  About halfway through her prayer, I peeked open my eyes and started to look around.  I noticed that I was pretty much the only adult fidgeting, or having a hard time listening to this sister's words.  It then struck me.  This lady was giving thanks.  Her heart was so full of gratitude that she couldn't help praising the Lord for the numerous blessings she felt she had.  Her example has changed my entire day.

I feel that over the past few months I have neglected to take time to be truly thankful.  At times I am so focused on things I want or do not have that I forget to appreciate the things I am blessed with.  Being just a week and a half away from Thanksgiving, I want to take a little time to acknowledge a few things that I am thankful for.

This list might sound a little silly or unorthodox, but today I am thankful for . . .

-Warm Pajamas.

-YouTube Tutorials.
-Seinfeld.
-Stupid stuff.  (It makes the good stuff seem even better.)
-My bike.  I am so obsessed with bike rides right now, and they make my days so happy!
-Fruit.  (Without fruit I would be eating candy 75% of the time.)
-Ice Cream.  (I can't eat fruit all the time, right?)
-Inside jokes.
-Weird treasures.
-The friendship I have with my grandmother.
-Future babies.  (I want one so bad!)
-Patience.  (See above.)
-The abilities of others to photograph things in a beautiful and meaningful way.
-My husband's job.
-Forgiveness. (Others for me, and vice versa.)
-Friends who stay friends.
-Hair extensions.
-Good smelling shampoo.
-The fact that I no longer have to use a laundromat.
-Netflix Instant Watch
-The ability I have to create and appreciate music.
-That my house is a home.
-Missionaries.  Ones I know, and ones I don't. (They are such great souls.)

-Prayer.  (He knows me.)
-Happy people.  (There are people in this world who are inherently happy.  They don't even need a reason!)
-Sleep.  (I get so much!)
-You. (Seriously.)
-Diet Sodas that don't taste "diet". (*ahem* Diet Cranberry Sierra Mist.)
-My education.  (And the fact that I am finished with my formal portion of it.)
-My family.  (In-laws included.  Duh.)
-Writing.  (Even blogging!)
-Letting go.

What are YOU thankful for today?

I'm totally like that in church too...and I try REALLY hard haha. It is surprisingly difficult to find snacks that won't make any sounds when I eat them or pull them out of my purse.

I love your thankful list. I am thankful for my husband and also how hard he works. He is second to none for me :)

Thanks for sharing. However, I will claim the longest closing prayer in history - in Kalamazoo, Michigan, closing prayer in last meeting of the day - blizzard blowing in, everyone already concerned about being able to get home that night, SERIOUS bad weather and icy roads already - this dear sweet brother prayed about every single thing you can possibly think about praying about. It went on 20 minutes (literally - I began timing it!).
