Just. . . some things.

A few days ago my supervisor at work said, "Aww, Chelsea.  You're just so cute and shy."

I was like, "Whaaa?"

Shy?  Me?  Since when?

But then I thought about it.  It's not that I'm reserved or insecure around people . . . I've just come to realize that if I don't have anything to say, I shouldn't say anything.

I'm not going to talk just to make sound.

I ran into someone I hadn't seen in awhile at the store the other day.  She asked, "What's new?"  I replied, "Nothing.  But, that's good.  I'm happy with how things are."  And it's true.  Right now  things are good, and I'm not anxious for anything to be particularly different.  I feel very content.

I feel like I'm beginning to really understand what it means to love someone.

You know what?  My marriage is not always perfect.  Sometimes we disagree over petty things.  Sometimes we argue.  But, these things are so unimportant in the big picture.  What is important is how my husband looks at me.  How he isn't afraid to kiss my cheek in public.  How he wants my happiness more than his own.   That, my friends, is love.  People are not perfect.  And marriages are usually not perfect.  But, love is perfect.

My husband is having a birthday in one week.  And guess what?  I have no clue what to get him.  If he was a girl, I would have ten thousand ideas.  But, I went the traditional route.

Any suggestions?  What do boys like?

Speaking of birthdays . . .

Yesterday was one of my BFF's 21st.  And I didn't even tell him.

So, Happiest Birthday Samuel!
I hope no one gave you a kitten.

Because I'm going to.

I like the part about loving someone. I agree. Looks like you've got life figured out miss.

Chelsea, one of the characteristics you share with my sweetheart, Annette, is the confidence to be a good listener and not talk just for the sake of hearing your own voice.

Although I love hearing her voice, I have learned to admire my wife's amazing ability to hear carefully and caringly what others are saying to her, first. (Just so you know, between you and Mista T., we still think James got the better end of the deal.)

Totally agree about the not saying things unless you have something to say. Why waste words? Words are to precious. And I might need them later.

My mother-in-law wrote a big post about the not speaking thing unless it means something here:

Thought that was interesting because I was just thinking about it :)

I HATE that!! When I first started at my job, I talked all the time so people could get to know me and hopefully like me. Now that I've been here for a year, I try not to talk as much, because truly, I have nothing to say. Now everyone thinks I have an attitude or disease haha. Wish I could help with the birthday gift thing, but my anniversary is tomorrow and I haven't even gotten a gift yet either... not good at man shopping. Hope you have a fabulous weekend, lady!! :)

I love this! Its true. I think a lot of people think the love is a feeling...and to a certain extent they would be right, but its also a choice. I choose to love my husband when he frustrates me, makes me angry, hurts my feelings, or makes me cry. I choose to love him when makes me feel cherished and appreciate, beautiful, and perfect. I choose to love him even if I disagree with a decision that he makes and he does the same. I think this is a very sweet and honest post and I love it.
PS-if your friend doesn't want the kitten that you are going to buy him...send it my way. I want one. :)

aww this is so beautiful. And so true! marriage is most definitely not perfect but all that matters is your love together :) It's all about putting the other before yourself and I think that's the reason we get married is to put us through the refiner's fire and make us think outside of ourselves. love all your deep funny and awesome posts dear :D
